The Mondego and Alva rivers form a conjunction that creates one of the country's major inland man-made lake area. There are many good restaurants and bars locally the closest restaurant is in Silveirinho, or you are able to have BBQ's most of the year thanks to the warm and sunny climate.

Mountains exist within a twenty five min drive, and here you will find the Montebelo Golf Course. The golf course presents the opportunity to play your game whilst you take in the breath taking views of the Serra do Caramulo and Serra da Estrella mountains.

Within 4 km you will reach Sao Pedro de Alva. In Sao Pedro you can access all of your modern conveniences, for instance schools, health care facilities, restaurants and cafes, along with grocery stores, banks, shops and malls and a post office. For more stores and choice of facilities you can reach Penacova, Mortagua, Santa Comba Dao or Coimbra within 15 to 30 min's. Coimbra City includes several impressive malls with cinema's, bowling and a great choice of food in the food halls. It is a historical University City, and is home to the Universidade de Coimbra. The Universidade was founded in 1290. Coimbra City, presents you with endless optical and culinary experiences to explore Nearby you will find the historical Roman ruins in Conimbriga open to visitors.

The famous Serra da Estrella National Park is only an hours drive from Lagares and through part of the year there are great skiing facilities open to the public. A drive west will lead you to coastal locations where you will find a choice of seaside to enjoy these include Praia da Tocha and Figueira da Foz.
